Luxury Floating Media Wall with Storage from Cutwood Joinery The client’s priorities were modern lines, clutter-free presentation, and durable materials. We proposed a floating design to create visual lightness and to accommodate ambient lighting beneath the structure. The specification included a precision frame-out to tight tolerances, a panoramic electric fire set perfectly flush, and custom cabinetry with soft-close, push-to-open hardware. The wall had to read as one continuous element with the TV, fire, and storage aligned on consistent sightlines. Planning and Specification Before opening up, we surveyed the wall to identify stud positions, service routes, and load paths for the TV and cabinetry. A full cable plan was prepared to relocate and conceal power, data, and AV services. We selected moisture-stable sheeting and premium fixings to maintain rigidity over a four-metre span. The fire manufacturer’s installation clearances and ventilation were integrated into the frame design, and LED channels were detailed for soft, indirect lighting. Implementation We constructed a bespoke timber frame to millimetre accuracy, including dedicated recesses for the television, panoramic fire, and storage modules. The electrical first fix provided new spur points, isolation for the fire, and concealed AV routing, allowing for a truly wire-free finish. Once the frame was inspected, the wall was fully sheeted, jointed, and plastered to a smooth finish. Custom cabinetry was fabricated to fit the exact openings, with push-to-open, soft-close mechanisms chosen for a minimal aesthetic and effortless operation. LED ambient lighting was integrated to wash the lower edge and highlight the floating effect. Final decoration matched the client’s interior palette for a cohesive, designed-in look. Key Features Four-metre floating media wall with concealed cable management Panoramic fire recessed flush to manufacturer tolerances Custom cabinetry with push-to-open, soft-close hardware Integrated LED ambient lighting for a subtle floating effect Full rewire of the feature wall for clean power and AV layout Finishes and Detailing The face was finished with high-build primer and durable topcoats to achieve a uniform, low-sheen surface that resists marking. Cabinet fronts were colour-matched to the wall to maintain a monolithic appearance, and shadow gaps were set consistent across all junctions. All seal lines were completed with fine silicone tooling for crisp edges around the TV recess and fire frame. Coordination and Trades Cutwood Joinery managed all stages, including joinery, electrical first and second fix, plastering, and decoration. Site sequencing ensured dust-generating tasks were completed ahead of cabinetry installation, and all components were test-fitted prior to final finishing to minimise on-site adjustments. Outcome The completed media wall delivers a luxury focal point that balances form and function. The floating design lightens the visual mass of a four-metre feature, while the flush-mounted fire and concealed wiring contribute to a calm, uncluttered room. Storage is practical but discreet, and the ambient lighting adds warmth without glare. The installation showcases the level of precision and finish our clients expect from a premium, all-trades service. Thinking About a Media Wall or Full Home Upgrade? Luxury Floating Media Wall With Storage

Luxury Floating Media Wall with Storage from Cutwood Joinery

Luxury Floating Media Wall

Project Overview

Our client wanted to transform a standard living room into a statement space centred around a four-metre floating media wall. The brief called for a clean, contemporary feature that integrates a panoramic fire, concealed cable management, and practical storage without compromising the room’s proportions. Cutwood Joinery provided a full design, build, and finish solution, coordinating all trades to deliver a seamless installation that looks built-in from day one.

Design Brief and Objectives

The client’s priorities were modern lines, clutter-free presentation, and durable materials.

Planning and Specification

Before opening up, we surveyed the wall to identify stud positions, service routes, and load paths for the TV and cabinetry.

Implementation

We constructed a bespoke timber frame to millimetre accuracy, including dedicated recesses for the television, panoramic fire, and storage modules.

Key Features

  • Four-metre floating media wall with concealed cable management

  • Panoramic fire recessed flush to manufacturer tolerances

  • Custom cabinetry with push-to-open, soft-close hardware

  • Integrated LED ambient lighting for a subtle floating effect

  • Full rewire of the feature wall for clean power and AV layout

Finishes and Detailing

The face was finished with high-build primer and durable topcoats to achieve a uniform, low-sheen surface that resists marking. Cabinet fronts were colour-matched to the wall to maintain a monolithic appearance, and shadow gaps were set consistent across all junctions. All seal lines were completed with fine silicone tooling for crisp edges around the TV recess and fire frame.

Coordination and Trades

Cutwood Joinery managed all stages, including joinery, electrical first and second fix, plastering, and decoration. Site sequencing ensured dust-generating tasks were completed ahead of cabinetry installation, and all components were test-fitted prior to final finishing to minimise on-site adjustments.

Outcome

The completed media wall delivers a luxury focal point that balances form and function.
