Painted Media Wall with CNC-Cut Doors, Ayrshire

The client wanted the TV wall to become the main feature of the living room, rather than a television on a bracket with a cabinet underneath. The brief was a single piece of joinery that would hold the TV, give them storage for media equipment and other bits and pieces, and look like part of the room.

We began with a consultation and a visit to measure the wall and talk through how the client used the room. From there our team drew up a design with the cabinets, shelving and doors set out to suit the space. Everything was made to the room's measurements rather than adapted from standard units, so it suits this wall and this room.

The cabinet doors are the standout part. They were cut on our CNC machine, which lets us cut decorative patterns accurately and repeat them exactly from door to door, something that would be very slow and hard to get consistent by hand. The same machine was used for the rest of the carcass parts, which keeps the joints tight and the lines straight across the whole wall. Once the parts were made, our joiners assembled and fixed the media wall on site, checking that everything was level, securely fixed and that every door and hinge worked properly.

The whole unit was then given a painted finish in the colour the client chose, so the doors, shelving and frame read as one piece. The finished media wall gives the living room a clear focal point, keeps the equipment and clutter hidden behind the doors, and shows the detail a CNC-cut door can add to painted joinery.
