Bedroom Remodel with Fitted Wardrobes, Kilmarnock

About this project

The client wanted a modern, practical bedroom with a lot more storage, without the room feeling crowded. The main ask was a run of wardrobes made to fit the room, with mirrored sliding doors, and pull-down wardrobe lifts inside so clothes hung up high could be reached easily.

Our joiners designed and made the cabinets and the mirrored sliding doors to the client's measurements. Each wardrobe section has its own single pull-down lift, which brings the hanging rail down to a comfortable height and makes use of the full height of the room. Because the doors slide rather than swing, they take up no floor space when opened, and the mirrors bounce light around and make the room feel bigger.

Before the furniture went in, the room was prepared by our own trades. The electrics were updated with dimmable LED lighting and extra sockets placed where the client needed them for lamps, chargers and other devices. The walls were plastered to give a smooth, even surface, then painted in colours chosen with the client, using low-VOC paint. Once the decoration was done, the wardrobes were fitted and adjusted so the doors ran smoothly and lined up properly.

We kept in close contact with the client throughout and involved them in the decisions on materials and finishes. The finished room has plenty of storage, a tidy, uncluttered look, and lighting that can be turned down in the evening. The client was very happy with how the wardrobes were made and fitted, and with the job as a whole.
