Cutwood Joinery – Premium Garage Conversion
Project Overview
Our client in Rowallan Estate, Fenwick, asked whether their underused garage could be converted into a more functional living space. Their vision was to transform the space into a snug relaxation area and craft room that would complement the style and quality of their main residence. The challenge was to maximise comfort and usability while delivering a finish that matched the property’s high standard.
Design and Planning
The garage was identified as an ideal candidate for conversion, providing a footprint that could be repurposed into a bright and airy annex. Our design approach focused on creating a warm, energy-efficient, and inviting interior that blended seamlessly with the existing home. Careful planning was carried out to address insulation, electrical needs, and interior finishes, ensuring the converted space would feel like a true extension of the home rather than a retrofit.
Implementation
A full all-trades service was delivered, beginning with insulation of the walls and ceiling using a combination of Kingspan boards and mineral wool. The floor was levelled with a screed to provide a solid foundation for the new finish. Electrical works included a mini rewire with flush-mounted double sockets and four soft-light LED ceiling fittings.
The joinery and finishing works involved fitting gyproc wall and ceiling panels, Ames taping, and custom skirting fabrication. A fire-rated door with bespoke ironmongery was installed to meet safety standards, while vinyl flooring and detailed decorating of walls, ceilings, and woodwork completed the transformation. A fabricated cabinet worktop provided practical storage and workspace for the craft area.
Final Result
The finished garage conversion is now a comfortable and versatile living space, furnished and dressed to reflect the client’s excellent taste. The bright and modern annex adds significant value to the property and provides a functional area for relaxation and hobbies.
