How we keep the house usable
- We keep the working area separate from the part of the house you are living in.
- We protect the floors, walls and doorways we have to walk through.
- We leave the house clean and usable at the end of every day.
- We plan the noisy and disruptive stages and tell you in advance when they are coming.
The stages that affect you most
On an extension, much of the early work happens outside: groundworks, foundations, the new walls and the roof. The house is largely unaffected until we open up between the old and the new.
Breaking through, removing walls and any work on the kitchen, plumbing or electrics are the stages that touch daily life most. We will talk you through these before the job starts, so you can plan around them.
If your kitchen is part of the work
If the kitchen is being moved or replaced, it helps to set up a temporary space elsewhere in the house with a kettle, microwave and fridge. We will tell you when the kitchen will be out of use so you can plan for it.
What helps on your side
- Clear the rooms next to the working area of anything you value before we start.
- Think about where pets and children will be during the busier stages.
- Agree with us where our team can park, store materials and use facilities.
- Tell us about any dates that matter to you, such as a family event, so we can plan around them where possible.
Knowing what is happening
You hear from us before you have to ask, including when something changes. One company runs the whole project, so there is one place to go with a question.
